Asthma Clinic

Our asthma clinic is held every Tuesday in our office. Research has shown that close monitoring of asthma and other pulmonary conditions can improve outcomes for patients. Our weekly clinic, run by Kristin Gossl, a certified respiratory therapist, facilitates a regular follow-up with physician to ensure symptoms are being properly controlled.

Ms. Goessl, works with patients to measure improvement in breathing function, suggest ways to improve the control of breathing problems, and works closely with our doctors and physician assistant to suggest other possible diagnoses that might be contributing to symptoms.

If you suffer from asthma or other pulmonary conditions, ask your doctor or physician assistant whether you might benefit from the asthma clinic.

Diabetes Teaching

Diabetes is a condition that affects a large population of patients. It is also a condition that can often be treated through diet and lifestyle changes, rather than through medication.

We help our patients through diabetes education to assist with things such as the weight loss through healthy diet and exercise. We also assist by teaching how to monitor blood sugar.

If you need assistance with controlling your diabetes or feel you may be at risk for the disease, call our office to make an appointment and ask your doctor about our diabetes education.

Weight-Loss Clinic

Being overweight or obese can increase the risk of many diseases, diminish your quality of life, and even cause premature death. Individualized dietary counseling has been proven more effective than simply advising that a patient go on a diet. Our weight-loss clinic can help to tailor a program to meet your lifestyle and dietary preference.

Insurance companies are sometimes reluctant to pay for visits with dietitians. Check with your insurance company to determine whether or not our services will be covered. In some instances, we may suggest that you visit with our physician assistant, which is generally covered.

Contact our office or ask your doctor if you’d like to make an appointment for weight management.

Echocardiography

An echocardiogram helps to show how well a heart is functioning. A doctor may recommend an echocardiogram for patients with a variety of conditions including diabetes, unexplained heart murmurs, unexplained shortness of breath, congestive heart failure or hypertension.

Tammi Berry is a certified ultrasonographer and performs tests in our office each week. Your test is then passed to a cardiologist who interprets it and provides a report to your doctor within a few days. The result of the test is something that your doctor will review to determine whether additional treatment is necessary and what steps should be taken.

Contact our office or ask your doctor if you’d like more information about our Echocardiograph testing.

Bone-Mineral Density Testing For Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis is a condition that can effect many populations, especially women over 50, smokers, thin people and those who are inactive.

A Dexa scan (or Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) measures a patient’s bone density to determine risk of fractures and osteoporosis. Similar to an x-ray, the scan is painless. The test result will help your health-care provider to determine possible risks and prescribe appropriate measures for prevention.

We provide DEXA scans through a partner office located approximately 7 miles from our office at 5314 McKitrick Blvd , Columbus . (Click here for a map.)

Talk to your doctor about whether a Dexa scan is recommended for you.
